SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican Republic will make history again by becoming the host of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, the most important multi-sport event in the region, which will bring together thousands of athletes from Central America and the Caribbean in a program that will cover more than 40 sports disciplines.
July 24 and 25: the sporting festival begins
The 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will begin on July 24 with the highly anticipated Opening Ceremony, followed by the start of competitions in water polo, badminton, football, tennis, surfing, rowing, rugby sevens, road cycling, and archery. The following day, July 25, disciplines such as swimming, judo, taekwondo, golf, artistic gymnastics, volleyball, softball, racquetball, and squash will make their debuts, marking the beginning of an intense sporting schedule.
July 26-28: the competitive program is extended
On July 26, the aquatics events will continue, while rhythmic gymnastics, hockey, table tennis, and boxing will be added to the schedule. On July 27, the diving, bowling, track cycling, and triathlon competitions will begin, along with the qualifying rounds of several team sports. On July 28, the focus will shift to the first swimming finals, along with competitions in sailing, fencing, baseball, basketball, and handball.
July 29-31: High-intensity days
The program continues on July 29 with a busy day featuring equestrian, cycling, soccer, hockey, softball, and tennis events. BMX Racing competitions will be added on July 30, while cycling, shooting, archery, and volleyball events will continue. Mountain biking (MTB), race walking, and more finals in combat sports will take place on July 31, intensifying the competition for medals.
August 1-4: Athletics takes center stage
Track and field, one of the most anticipated events on the program, will begin on August 1, accompanied by weightlifting, wrestling, and speed skating competitions. August 2 will feature numerous finals in 3x3 basketball, road cycling, boxing, and track and field. The schedule continues on August 3 with the finals in artistic gymnastics, fencing, and hockey, while on August 4, medals will be awarded in shooting, archery, volleyball, and track and field.
August 5-8: the final stretch of the Games
In the final stage of the event, on August 5, the finals of karate, weightlifting, canoeing and artistic swimming will be held.
The final days of athletics, volleyball, soccer, boxing, and other team sports will take place on August 6. On August 7, the champions in baseball, softball, e-sports, racquetball, and various other team disciplines will be crowned. Finally, on August 8, in addition to the finals of the sports program, the Closing Ceremony will be held, bringing to a close sixteen days of competition that will make Santo Domingo the epicenter of sports in the region.
