The athletes will compete in 40 sports, 56 disciplines and 64 events
SANTO DOMINGO.- One week before the opening of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Central American and Caribbean Village, the housing complex that will accommodate the athletes and officials in the sporting competition.
The facilities are located in Ciudad Juan Bosch, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este. During the event, the president expressed his hope that all the athletes would enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay, reaffirming the Dominican Republic's tradition of hospitality.
Furthermore, he urged Dominican athletes to represent the country with pride, discipline, and good behavior, noting that in addition to competing for medals, they also had a role as hosts.
He indicated that the national delegation is motivated and inspired to win as many medals as possible, although he emphasized that the most important thing is that healthy competition prevails among sister countries.
The head of state stated that his greatest aspiration is for the Dominican Republic to obtain "the medal of hospitality," demonstrating efficiency and exemplary organization during the development of the games.
Capacity of the spaces
According to a statement from the President's office, the complex can accommodate more than 7,200 people, including athletes and officials from 37 Central American and Caribbean nations. It is structured in five sections, each named after a prominent Dominican tourist destination: Pedernales, Punta Cana, Samaná, Montecristi, and Puerto Plata.

3,600 rooms and 1,200 apartments
The resort has 3,600 rooms, 150 buildings, and 1,200 apartments. Each building consists of eight three-bedroom apartments with a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, two bathrooms in total, and a laundry area.
It also has a dining room with capacity for 2,200 people, a health center, a polyclinic, a doping center, a gym with capacity for 150 people simultaneously, four meeting rooms, two entertainment areas with a cinema with capacity for 100 people, recreational areas with billiards, video games and mini soccer for 150 people.
The polyclinic in the village represents one of the most innovative legacies of the games, becoming the first facility of its kind in the history of the event with a comprehensive medical infrastructure within the athletes' village, explains the official statement.
What do the homes have?
Each home features a living room, dining room, three bedrooms, kitchen, balcony, bathrooms, and a comprehensive climate control system.
The complex features modern facilities including an entertainment center, international area, food truck park, coffee shop, supermarket, medical clinic, gym, and various recreational spaces. These amenities aim to ensure the overall well-being of residents during their stay.
The 25th Central American and Caribbean Games are expected to feature athletes from 37 countries, who will compete in 40 sports, 56 disciplines, and 64 events. The games will take place from July 24 to August 8.
