From October 20 to 22 of this year 2023, at the UTESA Convention Center, Santiago de los Caballeros, the first edition of Expo Acero will be held, an event aimed at the construction sector focused on metal structures in the Dominican Republic.
"Expo Acero 2023 is a platform aimed at the steel structure construction sector, an opportunity to interact throughout a weekend with industry professionals, suppliers, potential clients, among others," explains a press release.
The event is part of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Steel Days celebration. It is organized by OptimoSTD Steel Detailing and the Dominican Institute of Metal Structure Construction (IDCEM), in coordination with the host organization.
The press release explains that metal construction in the Dominican Republic has experienced its greatest boom in the last decade with large infrastructure projects based on steel, and that due to its speed of execution and flexibility for designs, steel is making its way and sustaining the local construction industry.
"During the free event, all the suppliers involved in the processes for building a steel structure will be exhibited, as well as a valuable educational component through talks, panels and conferences, success stories, aimed at students and professionals.".
Expo Acero Santiago 2023 will officially open on Friday the 20th at 6:00 PM. On Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd, the exhibition will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, offering a program of educational activities led by professionals in the field. The event is geared towards students, engineering professionals, architects, and the general public.

For more than a decade, the AISC has organized an annual celebration of the structural steel industry known as Steel Day, a space where the organization and its members come together to celebrate interesting and attractive events, from visits to manufacturers, projects, training through workshops and seminars.
