The official said that in the January-August period the country received 6,085,053 by air, 2% more than last year.

This growth is also reflected by sea, with the arrival of 1,920,204 cruise passengers, representing an increase of 166% compared to 2019, 25% compared to 2023 and 5% compared to the first 8 months of last year.

“We set another record, surpassing ourselves by receiving 8,005,257 visitors in the first 8 months of this year,” Collado said.

The official reported that in August alone the country received a total of 707,175 by air, 42% more than in 2019, 6% more than in 2023 and 4.7% more than last year.

Of those 707,175 tourists, 569,665 were foreigners, representing 81%, while 137,510 were of Dominican origin, equivalent to 19%.

“That means that in the month of August alone the country received 807,413,” the official said.

He said that thanks to tireless work, the Dominican Republic is a world reference for tourism.

“We have worked tirelessly and transparently, with a formidable team. That is the reason for our success,” he emphasized.
