The Dominican Republic is showcasing its luxury tourism offerings this Wednesday at the DR Trade Show in Miami

SANTO DOMINGO.- Today, Wednesday, April 2, the Dominican Republic will present its diverse luxury tourism offerings at the third consecutive edition of the DR Trade Show, organized by the Ministry of Tourism. This event marks the end of the winter season and kicks off strategic planning for the year's tourism activities.

Tourism Minister David Collado will meet with leaders and businesspeople from Latin America during the business meeting, which will take place at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Miami, United States, and will include the participation of 19 national companies.

During this edition, representatives from the Amanera, Four Seasons, Puntacana and St. Regis hotels will meet with tour operators with the aim of promoting the country as a luxury destination.

Collado asserted that, after achieving a massive influx of tourists, the country's strategy is focused on diversifying tourism.

During the event, which will conclude tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, Collado hopes that the signing of new agreements will help attract more than 500,000 tourists to the Dominican Republic, generating an approximate hotel investment of $1.3 billion, of which $274 million would correspond to new developments.

It specifies that the total impact of the agreements is estimated at the creation of 4,425 new rooms, 3,375 additional flights, more than 33,000 new jobs and an additional contribution of 910 million dollars to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The official highlighted that a net foreign exchange income growth of $332 million is expected, along with a 7% increase in local food consumption and a 4% growth in the GDP of the tourism sector.

The meeting

This is the third consecutive year that the Ministry of Tourism has held the DR Trade Show, which marks the end of the winter season and kicks off strategic planning for the year's tourism work.

The event, which will take place from April 1 to 3 at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in Miami, serves as a platform for launching the country's new goals and alliances in the international market.

This annual meeting seeks to consolidate the Dominican Republic's presence in the tourism and foster new business opportunities, through a strategy focused on building loyalty with tour operators and travel agents.

More than 600 participants are expected to attend the event, along with nearly 90 co-exhibitors, in addition to 1,157 meetings between the country's hotel companies present at the event.
