SANTO DOMINGO–Following complaints made last Wednesday, June 11, by residents of the Cuesta Brava sector in Arroyo Hondo regarding alleged irregularities in a construction project, the company carrying out the project affirmed that the construction has all the legal and environmental permits required by the country's authorities.
“This project was evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Environment through environmental certificate No. 7226-24, issued in December 2024, after a technical process that included environmental impact studies, mitigation plans and verification of regulatory compliance,” the company stated in a press release sent to El Inmobiliario.
Regarding the opposition of some locals, he maintains that "Cuesta Brava has been the scene of land conflicts for years, with the interests of certain families who have tried to legally paralyze formal developments in order to sustain informal occupations or invasions."
The construction company Danny Santos Compres SRLstated that the National District Mayor's Office issued certification DPU-CC-2024-0136, which establishes no objection to the urban development project. "The land where the residential complex will be built is duly registered, guaranteeing legal ownership and transparency in land management," the company stated.
In direct response to accusations of ecological damage and destruction of protected areas, the developer clarified that the complex's design preserves the area's environmental character. "The urban design includes the preservation of the Manzano stream's buffer zones, as well as the integration of green areas, public spaces, and responsible environmental management at every stage of construction," the company stated.
He added that the entire construction process is being carried out under supervision. “We have protocols in place for waste management, emissions control, and water resource protection,” he noted.
He also stated that regarding logging outside of permitted hours and without authorization, the activities have been carried out in accordance with the permits granted and within the framework of the hours allowed by local regulations.
Regarding the complaints about land use in an area classified as R1, spokespeople explained that the use was approved in accordance with the urban plans in effect at the time of the process. “The permit was granted legally and under the criteria of the current land-use plan. No regulation has been violated,” they stated.
The construction company stated that its goal is to contribute to the responsible urban development of the area. “This is a housing project that promotes orderly and sustainable growth. We want to offer modern homes that blend with the surroundings and improve the quality of life in the area,” they concluded.
The case
Residents of the Cuesta Brava sector of Arroyo Hondo in the National District denounced last Wednesday the improper use of the land and environmental devastation by the construction company Danny Santos Compres SRL, which allegedly intends to build a housing project on said land.
At a press conference, representatives of the neighborhood association stated that the land preparation work, which includes a restricted area, is seriously affecting the natural environment of the area.
