The award, which in previous years had been held in Puerto Plata, will move to the Catalonia hotel, with the addition of three new categories.
SANTO DOMINGO– The 2024 National Tourism Award ceremony will be held in Santo Domingo. Organizers announced that the third edition of the award will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Catalonia Santo Domingo Hotel on September 17th of this year.
A press release highlights that this year's awards have expanded from nine to twelve categories, including recognition for alternative tourism, the travel agency or tour operator of the year, and the best tourism service provider.
The president of the awards, Luis Severino, indicated that after two years of being successfully held in Puerto Plata, the award, already consolidated as an important recognition of the trajectory and excellence of Dominican tourism, should be held in a key and emblematic destination like Santo Domingo.
“This commitment to holding the award ceremony in the city of Santo Domingo compels us to exceed all expectations, and for this reason, this year the ceremony will feature new categories and new elements that complement the nominees' night,” he said.
He explained that the National Tourism Award aims to highlight successful experiences and best practices in tourism, while fostering a culture of excellence in the industry, focused on quality and sustainability.
Severino, in announcing the details of the award ceremony at an event held on the terrace of the Filigrana Restaurant, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received in past editions of the National Tourism Award, but above all to the Catalonia Santo Domingo hotel for hosting the award and being the hosts of the third edition in this year 2024.
For his part, the general manager of Catalonia Santo Domingo, Iván Cunillera, indicated that as a company they firmly believe in quality and in having hotels with the highest levels every day, especially in service, and therefore the celebration of the awards is undoubtedly an incentive to all hoteliers who believe the same.
“I don’t want to miss the opportunity to congratulate and recognize Luis Severino, who, through great effort, has made the National Tourism Award the highest recognition for hoteliers in the Dominican Republic. Without your perseverance, it wouldn’t have been possible, and we were, are, and always will be supporting you,” he emphasized.
