SANTO DOMINGO.-The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) announced this week that, starting next Monday, January 8, 2024, the 200 Dominican peso banknotes, dated 2023, will be in circulation.
"These banknotes, whose production was ordered through an international public tender in May 2023, contain the same security features as the 200 Dominican peso banknotes currently in circulation, which will maintain their legal tender status for the payment of all public and private obligations," the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) stated in an information notice.
This is what the new banknote will look like
- Year: located at the bottom of the front, it allows you to identify the year in which its manufacture was ordered.
- Watermark: Image of the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte, which becomes visible when the banknote is held up to the light, accompanied on the right by the denomination value "200" horizontally.
- Markings for the blind: geometric figure in high relief located on the upper left edge.
- Latent image: small inverted lines forming an engraving with the initials "BCRD". It can be observed at a specific angle, with the aid of light.
- Security thread: a thin strip containing the banknote's denomination and a color-changing design that shifts from magenta to green and is combined with the logo. On the front, it is visible through a window on the surface of the paper, and on the back, it is embedded within the paper.
- Horizontal numbering: the identification number of each banknote, located on the upper left side. This is the same as the vertical numbering.
- Vertical numbering: the identification number of each banknote, located on the right side. This numbering is the same as the horizontal numbering.
- Microprints: inscriptions in very small letters, which at first glance appear to be a solid line, but which can be seen with the help of a magnifying glass or lens.
- Isotype with the visual identity of the BCRD: accompanied by the denomination value in numeric characters, which together change color from magenta to green, printed with optically variable ink.
The banknotes are issued under the provisions contained in Articles 228, 229 and 230 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic and Article 25, paragraphs a) and c) of the Monetary and Financial Law 183-02.
The Central Bank urged citizens to consult the information available on its website if they have any questions about this or any other banknote or coin.
