SDQ MICE 2025: Santo Domingo strengthens its leadership in meetings tourism

SANTO DOMINGO- The Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD) announced that the fifth edition of SDQ MICE 2025, the country's main specialized meeting for meetings, incentives, congresses and exhibitions tourism, will take place from September 10 to 12 at the Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo Hotel, with complementary activities in different locations throughout the city.

This year, the event will take another step forward with the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the largest international network of professionals in the meetings industry. This alliance is part of the joint strategy of the AHSD and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, aimed at positioning the Dominican capital on the international map, with access to training, innovation, and global networks.

According to a report by El Inmobiliario on July 26, in 2024 the MICE segment represented 6.3% of total tourist spending, with an average daily consumption per visitor of US$208, significantly exceeding traditional leisure tourism, a figure that confirms the profitability and immediate impact of this type of tourism, reinforcing the importance of initiatives such as SDQ MICE for the positioning of the country.

The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) is participating as the main sponsor and strategic partner, reaffirming its commitment to diversifying the tourism offerings and strengthening meetings tourism as a means of sustainability and competitive development for the destination.
The academic design of this fifth edition has been overseen by Elizabeth Tovar, president of Turenlaces and a renowned regional leader in congress organization, ensuring a program that fosters both professional development and the promotion of the destination.

“SDQ MICE has established itself as a meeting and learning space that involves the entire value chain of the sector,” said Yudit García, president of AHSD, highlighting that the event brings together hoteliers, professional congress organizers, DMCs, destination management companies, service providers, students, and government officials. “This collaborative ecosystem is the foundation for continuing to position Santo Domingo as the business and events capital of the Caribbean.”.
