SANTO DOMINGO– While expressing regret over the deaths of two people who died early Sunday morning in a vehicle accident after falling into a hole being excavated at a construction site under its supervision, the construction company Roaldi asserted on Tuesday that the project has all the necessary permits issued by the responsible institutions, as well as a valid construction license issued by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), and is complying with the provisional authorization for the excavation work.
In a statement, the company expressed its regret for the tragic vehicle accident in which two people died and two others were injured, after one of the vehicles involved lost control and fell into the excavation of the construction project.
“With deep sorrow and sadness, we regret the incident and extend our sincerest condolences to the affected families, as well as wishing a speedy recovery to those who were injured,” the document states.
Roaldi stated that immediately after the events occurred, the company's executives arrived at the scene and provided assistance in everything required by the relevant authorities.
They explained that the project also includes a perimeter fence and reinforced concrete pilings at the intersection of José Tapia Brea and Roberto Pastoriza streets, a vulnerable point in relation to vehicular traffic, thus complying with the technical regulations regarding safety and protection of the work; the excavation of the project being completely enclosed around its perimeter.
They explained in the statement that the project is currently in the initial stage of assembling the reinforcing bars for the footings, and they are waiting to complete this stage before requesting the first inspection prior to pouring the concrete, thus complying with the provisions of Article 100 of Regulation R-004 of the Ministry of Housing.
"This article indicates that the request for the first inspection must be made before proceeding with the pouring of concrete, work that has not yet been carried out in the project," he said.
Constructora Roaldi reaffirmed its commitment "to continue being committed to the social responsibility of safeguarding the safety of citizens and our employees, complying with the rules and laws that govern us, in order to guarantee a coexistence based on the common good.".
It adds that the company, dedicated to the construction industry, has a 20-year track record, always complying with all regulations and permits required by the different institutions that govern the construction sector.
