Major investments in infrastructure, luxury real estate developments, renovations, and sustainable and social responsibility programs predict that the Group will continue to raise its standards, contributing to the nation's economic strengthening.
PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA PROVINCE.- Grupo Puntacana celebrated its 55th anniversary by reaffirming its legacy with a clear vision: to drive innovation and expand its operations. This is part of its diversification strategies, focused on its fundamental pillars: economic growth, social development, and environmental preservation.
The brand, comprised of 12 companies, is led by Frank Elías Rainieri, President and CEO; Paola Rainieri, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO); and Francesca Rainieri, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Grupo Puntacana. The company drives the development of the eastern region through a unique business model that encompasses an airport, foundation, hospitality, real estate, community services, education, and, most recently, a logistics center and free trade zone.
"From its beginnings in 1969, the American entrepreneurs who started the project together with Frank R. Rainieri had the vision to develop an environmentally friendly and socially responsible tourist community, to offer visitors unique experiences," a statement from the consortium highlights.
He points out that since then, the business group has been based on values such as corporate, social, and environmental responsibility; loyalty, ethics, quality, and service. "They continue to invest in the growth of the region, its comprehensive development, and the constant improvement of living conditions for the surrounding communities, offering opportunities with access to housing, quality healthcare, education, recreation, and culture.".

A memorable
In 2024, the Punta Cana Airport celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of historical milestones and the expansion of Terminal B. This project, which began operations in 1983, made it the world's first privately owned airport for international commercial use. It handles 68% of the country's tourist air traffic, connecting to 75 cities in 34 countries through 58 airlines, serving over 9 million passengers and transporting more than 25 million kilograms of cargo annually. The airport also features two runways, 33 boarding gates, 38 aircraft parking positions, and seven VIP lounges.
New steps
During the current year, the Group successfully celebrated the fifteenth (15th) edition of the Punta Cana Carnival, the seventh edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship, the first PGA TOUR event in the Dominican Republic; and signed an agreement with Cheddi Jagan International Airport for the construction, operation and joint management of a new airport terminal at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana.
Their tireless, results-oriented work allowed them to be recognized in 3 categories at the eleventh Latam Digital 2024 awards, which Interlat presents annually to recognize the digital industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Ministry of Labor also recognized the brand for the second consecutive year as a "company of excellence in Good Practices for Occupational Safety and Health" for investing in the health and well-being of its employees, promoting a positive and productive work environment.

The Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ), an air, sea, and land logistics center with a free trade zone park, is currently in its final stages of construction. This hub will house cargo logistics operations and offices for the development of the Punta Cana Hub, dedicated to innovation and the growth of Fintech companies. This project contributes to the sustained economic growth of the region, creating 10,000 jobs and positioning Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic as leaders in international trade and foreign investment.
As part of its sustainability policy, Grupo Puntacana is developing a solar energy generation project with the company Eurelius that will supply more than 50% of the electricity consumed by the Punta Cana community, thus contributing to the development of a more sustainable destination and avoiding the emission of more than 25,000 tons of CO2 per year, which will reduce energy costs.
"The company continues to create quality jobs, opportunities, and is committed to expansion. This time, together with Mac Hotels and Marriott International, with whom it joined forces to open the W Punta Cana, the first W Hotels in the country, located in Uvero Alto, they are preparing to inaugurate a luxury all-inclusive property for adults only, one of the first 'W all-inclusive' resorts worldwide, with an investment of $130 million that will generate 600 jobs," the statement concludes.
