More than 750 tourism experts compiled the ranking of the 50 best beaches in the world. The judges included travel journalists, influencers, and beach ambassadors. Below are the beaches selected for The 50 Best Beaches in the World 2023 list.
Arena, Dominican Republic, ranked 27th. This beach boasts some of the whitest sand in the entire country. It has been awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its waters, its safety, and its services. It is characterized by its fine, white sand lapped by turquoise waters and surrounded by coconut palms.
Due to its wind conditions, it's also an ideal spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Furthermore, it's of particular interest to diving enthusiasts, as it's the site of a Russian ship called the Astron, which sank in 1978 during a storm while transporting corn to Cuba.
Mexico also ranked 10th; experts said this beach shares an incredible resemblance to the Whitsundays, although it is located in Southern California and has a protected area since 2018, so a limited number of visitors per day is established in order to preserve the environment.
Puerto Rico achieved number 26, with its flamenco beach.
