It reports that it has implemented a night work schedule, which runs from 9 pm to 5 am.
SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported this weekend that, as part of the work schedule being carried out on the Maximo Gomez overpass with 27 de Febrero Avenue, where the slabs of the western exit of the structure collapsed last November, work is currently underway to secure the existing walls, to ensure their stability against any unforeseen event that may occur.
According to a press release from the Communications Department, while work is being done on the fixings, progress is also being made in defining the structural design of the Northwest wall to be rebuilt.
The MOPC also reports that work has already begun on drilling and installing bottom drains at the bottom of the wall, as well as drilling and installing high-strength grout to anchor the existing walls, specifically in the Northeast section.
The note adds that, in parallel with the above, seeking to optimize time and anticipate the delivery of these works, a night work shift has been implemented on the walls located in the South lanes of this overpass (which is where the vehicular flow is currently maintained during the day), from 9 pm to 5 am.
According to the press release, work is underway to extract concrete cores, through which drainage and rock anchor drilling will eventually be carried out to secure these structures.
"With this, we intend to reduce the inconvenience that would be caused to users by waiting for the North side to be fully completed, in order to enable traffic on these two lanes (as is currently the case on the South side), and then to complete the Southeast and Southwest areas," reports the press release from Public Works.
The state institution in charge of road infrastructure works in the country said that this work of placing anchors on the south wall is scheduled to begin on January 9, as well as the start of the reconstruction work on the new wall in the northwest part.
It also reports that, once the detailed designs are finalized, and starting from this date, January 1, 2024, it is expected that these works can be completed.
