The works include paving and patching of various streets, reconstruction of rural roads, repair of homes and other actions in this municipality, belonging to the province of Monte Plata.
SABANA GRANDE DE BOYÁ. – Brigades and heavy equipment from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) are working rapidly in different streets and sectors of this municipality in the province of Monte Plata, where the Public Works with the People Program has been implemented, carrying out dozens of projects with an investment exceeding 200 million pesos, which will bring improvements to the community.
The Deputy Minister of Road Maintenance, Mélito Santana, explained during a supervisory tour that the work consists of paving and patching streets, road signage, conditioning of rural roads, painting of bridges, cleaning, construction of sidewalks and curbs, and medical operations.
Also, construction and repair of homes and sports fields, filling and paving in the sectors Los Guandules, Las Cañitas, Kilombo, Matadero and Pueblo Nuevo Arriba.
A press release details that in different neighborhoods of the municipality, and in coordination with the Road Maintenance Directorate, Public Works brigades proceeded to clean sidewalks and curbs, parks, drains, tree pruning, clearing of sides, garbage cans, renovation of basketball courts, among others.
Santana said that “work has already been completed in the city center, as well as in neighborhoods and rural communities, and assistance is being provided to almost the entire municipality.” He added that in the Brazalete sector, work is underway on filling and compacting material for paving, and that sidewalks and curbs are also being built.
“We’ve been working for 15 days, and we’ll be in the municipality for a total of 45. We’re going to reschedule our work to finish one location and then immediately move to another,” he said.
The mayor of the municipality, Isidro Mieses de Jesús, thanked President Abinader and the Minister of Public Works for bringing this program to the municipality, and expressed that “in just 15 days of work, a great change has been seen and much progress has been made.”.
Through the Military and Police Commission (Comipol), drinking water was supplied, as well as fumigation of homes, and medical and dental operations.
The Directorate of Social and Community Programs carried out the replacement of roofs and painting of houses that were vulnerable, as well as parks.
Jorgelina Antigua Brito, president of the Brazalete neighborhood association, while thanking the government and Public Works, said that "after 13 years in the area, we had never been taken into account.".
In Las Taranas and Hato San Pedro
The Las Taranas community, just three kilometers from the town, had been waiting for more than six years for the repair of the road that connects Sabana Grande de Boyá with the Northeast Highway.
There are 14 heavy equipment units working on preparing the surface before proceeding with the paving.
Community member Ramona Casimira Mota, a resident of Las Taranas, thanked President Abinader and Minister Ascención for the work done, adding that the authorities “have collaborated on this great project and have seen that this community deserves it.”.
Teams and brigades from the MOPC intervened on the Hato San Pedro-Los Guineos rural road, which was impassable, preventing producers from taking their products to the markets, as well as the transfer of students to schools.
Vice Minister Santana was accompanied by the directors of Road Maintenance, Mitzi Lluberes; of Social Programs, Yasmina Veras, as well as the provincial governor, Rafaela Javier Gomera, and engineers in charge of works from the MOPC.
