ProDominicana opens a one-stop shop to facilitate foreign investment

SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Republic's Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana) formally launched the Single Window for Investment (VUI) to facilitate foreign investment by ensuring that the services investors receive are reduced in time, resources, and necessary procedures.

During the event “Innovative Instruments in Support of Investment”, the executive director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, highlighted the initiative of innovative digital tools to boost investment in the country.

The VUI is part of the Zero Bureaucracy Program, which is a digital platform that connects the services and procedures necessary to establish a new investment in the Dominican Republic.

It also aims to streamline the investment processes for those intending to develop operations in the country's various productive sectors of goods and services, so that investors have a single point of contact that is more efficient and less bureaucratic.

Riveiro said, “We will make every effort to optimize the institutional framework and legal security as attractive factors for attracting investment and maximizing the benefits of Foreign Direct Investment in the country.”.

In addition, the VUI has more than 10 institutions linked to the platform and the possibility of carrying out more than 25 procedures.

According to reports, this innovation puts the country ahead of other countries in the Latin American region in terms of the number of sectors incorporated and the number of procedures and institutions involved.

Furthermore, with this tool, the Dominican Republic is on track to lead the region by 2030 and be one of the most competitive countries in the world in the next 20 years.

Meanwhile, José Quiroz, founder and managing partner of Quiroz Advisors-QA LEGAL, presented the iGuide platform as a digital tool to those present.

The iGuide is a digital guide for investors, designed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the International Chamber of Commerce, which allows investors to access information on costs, opportunities and trading conditions in nations.

Similarly, the Director of Strategic Innovation at ProDominicana, Edgar Espinal, presented the Dominican Republic's Single Window for Investment (VUIRD) system, the digital service platform that consolidates the obtaining of permits and certifications associated with Foreign Direct Investment for the productive sectors of our country into a single access channel.

“At ProDominicana, we are firmly committed to coordinating and managing the processes of requesting permits, licenses, and certifications from the corresponding government entities and establishing the appropriate channels for attracting FDI to the country in accordance with Decree 626-12, which creates the Single Window for Investment,” said Riveiro.
