President Luis Abinader and Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the Malecón de Haina in the province of San Cristóbal yesterday, Sunday, a project that will transform the municipality's coast into a modern space for recreation, sports and economic dynamism.
During the event, the president reaffirmed his government's commitment to the comprehensive development of the municipality , highlighting projects executed with budgetary efficiency , investment in technical education , green areas , and improvements in transportation infrastructure .
The governor also announced the opening of a new ecological park on state-owned land for the enjoyment of working families, the continuation of the transportation plan with the arrival of the cable car to Quita Sueño in 2027, and new projects such as a pedestrian bridge and breakwater for the boardwalk.
For his part, Tourism Minister David Colladoemphasized that the new Haina boardwalk is part of a national plan to revitalize public spaces and coastlines, with a focus on human needs and transparency. The project, with an investment exceeding RD$107 million, provides the community with a suitable space for recreation and local development.
Collado stated that no Minister of Tourism had previously visited the Malecón de Haina and recalled that similar projects have been carried out in the National District, Santo Domingo East, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana and Samaná, as well as in the municipality of Cabrera, María Trinidad Sánchez province.
The official emphasized that his administration prioritizes community participation and transparency , and assured that the country is experiencing its best moment in tourism, with the goal of reaching 12 million visitors this year.
Meanwhile, the mayor of the municipality of Haina, Osvaldo Rodríguez, assured that the inauguration of the new boardwalk will mark a before and after in the history of the municipality, while thanking the Government for its support in making this long-awaited project a reality.
Those present included the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez; Governor Pura Casilla; Senator Gustavo Lara; the Mayor of San Cristóbal, Nelson de la Rosa; Deputies Margarita Tejeda, Francisco Paulino, and Jacqueline Montero; the Director of Politur, General Minoru Matsunaga; and the Director of Egehid, Rafael Salazar. William Alcántara represented the San Cristóbal Tourism Cluster .
