SANTIAGO.- President Luis Abinader carried out a broad program of inaugurations in this province, beginning with the delivery this Saturday of 404 new apartments distributed in the Mi Vivienda Los Salados and Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque housing projects.
Both projects, developed by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), add to the more than 6,700 homes that have been delivered by the president in the three years of his administration.
During the event, Abinader assured that the families who lived in vulnerable conditions in the Gurabo ravine and who have been displaced will have their homes in this project, which he described as special because it is part of one of the most important sanitation programs in the country.
The president also referred to the project presented by Proindustria for the installation of an industrial park that will contribute to the creation of jobs in this region, where the people live and where their new home is located.
The head of state urged the families to take care of their new property and, at the same time, learn to live in community, peace, and harmony. "Projects like this, where they are given decent housing, but where there is also a special cleanup of the Gurabo ravine, are the projects that fill us with joy, that encourage us to work and make special budgetary efforts, because this is an economic, social, and environmental development project that is worth continuing to work on.".
In the Hato Nuevo and Los Salados housing complexes, MIVHED has built 1,246 new homes out of the 1,856 it plans to deliver in the two projects, with a joint investment exceeding RD$4.3 billion.
In the Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque project, Abinader and the Minister of MIVHED, Carlos Bonilla, delivered 240 new apartments to the same number of beneficiary families, who now become owners of their homes.
This is the third delivery that the governor has made in Hato del Yaque, totaling 590 units built so far in that town in Santiago.
For his part, Bonilla emphasized that for President Abinader, it is a priority that Dominican families have their own roof over their heads, and added that with today's deliveries in the Mi Vivienda Project, the total number of homes reached 6,758.
The official projected that by the end of the year, the number will exceed 7,000. "We're talking about more than 30,000 people who will have a new roof over their heads, largely donated by the government. This is a historic figure; no other government has ever reached a number even remotely similar to this in a single program.".
In Mi Vivienda Hato del Yaque, the Government, through MIVHED, plans to build 1,200 new three-bedroom units in 150 four-story buildings, with an investment of RD$2.796 billion, benefiting more than 4,000 people who lived in vulnerable conditions in Arroyo Gurabo.
The project creates more than 2,500 direct jobs that boost the economy of that area and has 19,848.8 square meters of green areas and 2,209.65 of institutional area, in addition to a basketball court, baseball field, parking, playground and recreation area.
The families of Nurys Reyes Díaz, Ángela Mercedes Ovalles, Juan Polanco, Teresa Cruz and Arisleyda Bonilla symbolically received their keys.
My Housing Plan Los Salados
After the event in Hato del Yaque, Abinader and Bonilla traveled to Los Salados, in this province, where they delivered 164 new apartments, with which MIVED completes 100% of the units delivered under the Mi Vivienda plan in this area.
This is the fifth delivery that the president and Bonilla have made in Los Salados, to total the 656 homes that the project included, with an investment of RD 1,505 million, benefiting more than 2,100 people.
Bonilla stated: “Our efforts to improve the quality of life for Dominicans do not stop; it is our goal and our commitment. The Mi Vivienda Los Salados housing project in Santiago de Los Caballeros is an example of the work we are doing to fulfill the promises of our president, Luis Abinader.”.
The housing complex, which created more than 1,300 direct jobs, has 7,821.84 square meters of green areas, 1,314.84 square meters of institutional area and features a basketball court, playground, recreational area, as well as parking for cars and motorcycles.
A dignified life for citizens
Meanwhile, the administrator of Banco de Reservas, Samuel Pereyra Rojas, stated that they will continue to support these types of initiatives through the Dominican State, so that citizens can enjoy a dignified life.
"At Banco de Reservas, we are proud to promote the well-being of our fellow citizens and remain true to our social vocation and human sensitivity through this My Home Plan, whose objective is to fulfill one of the main dreams of every Dominican family: the dream of owning their own home," he said.
In addition, Pereyra Rojas said that the Mi Vivienda project has a fixed rate of 8% for six years, much lower than current private market rates, and owners will pay between 7,500 pesos for 2-bedroom apartments and 12,000 pesos for 3-bedroom homes.
My Home Plan
With these deliveries in Hato del Yaque and Los Salados, MIVHED has built 6,758 of the 7,500 homes promised in this four-year period as part of the Mi Vivienda plan.
With Los Salados, that state entity has completed the Mi Vivienda program in La Barranquita, Santiago; Los Llanos, San Pedro de Macorís; Villa Progreso, Bahoruco; Las Matas de Farfán, San Juan; Santa Cruz, Montecristi; Santiago Rodríguez, and Colinas del Arroyo II, in Santo Domingo Norte.
The entity continues to deliver homes in Hato del Yaque, Santiago; San Luis, Santo Domingo East; Ciudad Modelo, Santo Domingo North; and Hato Nuevo, Santo Domingo West.
Those present at the activities included the provincial governor, Rosa Santos; Senator Eduardo Estrella; the administrator of Banreservas, Samuel Pereyra; the mayor of Hato del Yaque, Fermín Rojas; the director of Proindustria, Ulises Rodríguez, and the director of Corasaan, Andrés Burgos; the general manager of Fiduciaria Banreservas, Andrés Vander Horst; the administrator of Edenorte, Andrés Cueto, and the deputy Francisco Alberto Díaz.
