Popular delivers aid to communities and families affected by tropical disturbance

The aid provided by Banco Popular will be used primarily for the purchase of essential supplies, reconstruction of homes, and basic medicines

SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano delivered the announced solidarity contribution of RD$60 million to assist communities and families affected by the tropical disturbance of Saturday, November 18.

The event was led by the CEO of Banco Popular, Christopher Paniagua, and by representatives of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, the Dioceses of San Pedro de Macorís, Baní, San Juan de la Maguana and Barahona, as well as the Student and Professional Crusade for Christ.

In his remarks, Paniagua emphasized the bank's social commitment, which from its inception has aimed to be a responsible corporate citizen and "stand alongside communities to foster their development, growth, and well-being.".

He thanked the invited institutions for achieving this goal so that the donation effectively reaches the affected families: “This would not be possible without the collaboration of each of the organizations present here, reliable and experienced entities in emergency management, which will channel the aid to its final beneficiaries,” said the bank's CEO.

Impact monitoring

To ensure the measurement of the impact of the contributions delivered, the beneficiary entities will register the use of the funds delivered by Popular and will submit an execution report to the financial organization.

The aid provided by Banco Popular will be primarily used to purchase essential supplies, rebuild homes, and buy basic medicines. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) will use these funds to strengthen emergency response teams and support the recovery efforts in the communities most affected by the storm.

The institutions expressed their gratitude for Banco Popular's ongoing solidarity with the affected families, as well as its commitment to human growth and resilience in communities and the development of the country.
