Only 1.3% is managed through trusts, in a context marked by a high lack of information
SANTO DOMINGO. – The conditions under which construction projects are developed in the metropolitan region reveal a market with low use of formal financing and limited adoption of structured management mechanisms.
According to the Building Supply Registry (ROE 2025-2) of the National Statistics Office, only 7.8% of active works requested financing, while 16.5% did not resort to loans, according to the data in Graph 15.
The most relevant figure in the graph is the weight of the "no information" category, which represents 75.7% of active works, a clear indication that, in most cases, there is no data on whether the projects were financed through credit or developed with own resources.
Limited use of the trust
Regarding the administration of the works, Graph 16 shows that only 1.3% of active projects are managed through trusts, 22.6% of the works do not use this scheme, while 76.1% do not have information available on their form of administration.
These indicators show a similar structure of low participation of formal mechanisms (credit and trust), relevant proportions of projects outside these schemes and a high level of unreported information.
Overall, the results show that financing through loans has a limited participation in active works, the trust, as a management tool, has a marginal presence, and there is a high proportion of projects for which detailed data is not available.
These data are relevant because they offer an approximation of the conditions in which construction activity takes place, showing a sector where the use of formal credit is not predominant in the available records, institutional management schemes have low incidence and the available information still presents significant gaps.
Rather than defining a single behavior, the indicators reflect the heterogeneity of the sector and the need for more information to more accurately understand the dynamics of project financing and management.
