SANTO DOMINGO. – Some 4,544 families from more than 20 communities in San Pedro de Macorís will benefit from the upgrade of the Quisqueya substation, a project that seeks to strengthen the electrical infrastructure and improve the quality of service in the area.
Edeeste completes reinforcement work
The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) announced the completion of the upgrade work on the Quisqueya substation in San Pedro de Macorís, which aims to meet the sustained growth in energy demand from 21 localities in this province.
Investment of RD$14.7 million
In a press release, the distributor explained that the work was carried out with an investment of approximately RD$14,760,255, resources intended to strengthen the electrical infrastructure and improve the capacity to respond to the increase in consumption in this area of the country.
Beneficiary communities
Among the localities that will receive the benefits of this intervention are Quisqueya, Invi 1, Invi 2, La Loma, Pueblo Nuevo, Punta Brava, Batey Pajarito, Guachupita, Villa Verde, Batey El Silencio, Batey Canutillo, Batey Tumba, Batey San José de Ulloa, Batey Nuevo Quisqueya, Los Capaces, El Rancho, Batey Naranjo de China, Los Montones, Los Fundos and La Jagua.
According to Edeeste, as part of the work a new 5 MVA power transformer was incorporated , which allowed the substation's capacity to increase by 40% .
Greater service stability
The company explained that this increase will allow them to more efficiently meet the growing demand for electricity, as well as contribute to greater stability and reliability of supply for users in these communities.
The upgrade of the Quisqueya substation is part of the actions developed by Edeeste to cope with the increase in energy consumption and strengthen its operational capacity, especially during periods of higher demand.
