Deligne Ascención, Minister of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), reported that through his ministry, the government is carrying out more than 15 projects in the Hermanas Mirabal province with an investment exceeding RD$300 million, some of which have already been completed and will be delivered in the coming days.
“Here, between November and December of this year, we will complete most of the works we are carrying out, and we have precise instructions from President Luis Abinader not to leave a single street or alley unpaved,” said the Minister of Public Works
A press release from the Communications Department of that state entity states that Ascención conducted a supervisory tour of different works carried out by the MOPC in all the municipalities of the Hermanas Mirabal province.
He adds that the official began at the Governor's headquarters with a meeting with provincial and municipal authorities and social representatives from different communities.
María Mercedes Ortiz, mayor of the municipality of Salcedo, highlighted that never before had any government carried out so many projects together in this province as the ones it is currently undertaking.
The provincial governor, Lissette Nicasio de Adames, expressed the same sentiment, highlighting that the residents of Hermanas Mirabal are highly grateful to President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Public Works, because in that province, both the president and the minister have carried out unimaginable work for the benefit of the different communities.
Among the works that the MOPC is carrying out in this province are the construction of the streets in the Nuevo Conuco sector, the parking lot of the Hermanas Mirabal museum, construction of the protection of the approaches of the bridge over the Cenoví River, construction of the La Jagüita-Los Hoyos-Naranjo local road, construction of gabion walls in Juana Núñez, construction of the streets of Monte Adentro and La Bahía, as well as the paving of streets in the Los Cacaos community and construction and protection of the Alto La Piedra gabion walls.
Completed works
Among the works completed by the MOPC are the construction and protection of gabion walls on the El Muerto road, the construction of the La Ceiba-Ranchito rural road (4.75 km), the construction of the La Ceiba-Rancho al Medio rural road (4.0 km), the construction of the El Tablón rural road (9.0 km), the construction of solutions to 9 critical points on the Tenares-Gaspar Hernández road, the construction of the 72″ tubular ford in Blanco Al Medio, the construction of the Arenoso-Jayabo 8 box culvert bridge, and the construction of the Juana Núñez box culvert bridge.
He also oversaw the construction of bridges, sidewalks and curbs, highways and rural roads, as well as gabion walls, in the municipalities of Salcedo, Tenares, Villa Tapia, among others.
The official was accompanied by the provincial governor Lissette Nicasio Adames, the Cibao-North Regional Director of the Ministry of Public Works, engineer Basilio González, the provincial director of the MOPC, engineer Josefina Marte Frías and the deputy Félix Santiago Hiciano, the former mayor Elido Perez.
