In Boca Chica , Tourism Minister David Collado yesterday delivered one project and started two others that seek to transform this tourist hub, emphasizing sustainability and inclusive tourism.
The projected investment exceeds 70 million pesos, accordingto a press release from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), which indicates that the renovation includes the reconstruction of a children's parkand the remodeling of the Church . Additionally, the building that will house the Tourist Police (POLITUR) facilities was inaugurated.
Collado stated that each of these projects has a direct impact on the residents of Boca Chica and those who visit it.
“We believe in sustainable and inclusive tourism. Tourism that directly impacts the community,” the official said.
The three projects are being carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR).
The reconstruction of the Boca Chica Children's Park, which will serve as a recreational area for community residents, covers an area of 1,222 square meters. It includes a children's play area, as well as the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs, a gazebo, and an existing vendor kiosk. The project also includes access ramps, lighting, benches, signage, bollards, replacement of existing furniture, and landscaping.
The park, which will have an investment of RD$ 18,862,089, is located at the intersection formed by San Rafael Avenue and Duarte Avenue.
The renovation of the San Rafael Arcángel parish will cost RD$22,806,583and will include an administrative area, public restrooms, and an events hall. It will also feature a new layout of the architectural spaces, adding a sacristy area and another hall.
The renovation will include remodeling the external and internal areas of the parish, restoration and maintenance of existing furniture, replacement of chapel pews, lighting and landscaping, among other improvements.
The construction of the Politur Boca Chica building, located between Duarte and José Reyes streets, had a cost of RD$ 29,547,540.
It is a two-story building with offices, dormitories, jails, weapons depots, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, as well as a parking area and landscaping.
These works are part of the comprehensive reorganization and reorganization plan for Boca Chica that will be implemented by MITUR, with an investment of approximately 700 million pesos.
It includes the Boca Chica boardwalk project, the beach intervention and Duarte street.
Added to this is the beach regeneration plan as part of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) project.
“This constitutes a true plan for the reorganization and comprehensive planning of Boca Chica, which will mark a before and after in this wonderful destination,” Collado stated.
