The Ministry of Tourism reports on the construction projects carried out by CEIZTUR

SANTO DOMINGO.– The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the committee of the Observatory of Good Practices held an accountability report yesterday, Monday, on the oversight processes of the Executive Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), whose work from 2021 to 2023 has resulted in the awarding of 64 projects valued at 6,263.9 million pesos.

During that period, 51 processes were carried out, of which 33 were active, and 15 projects were awarded, complying with all legal requirements, according to the report offered yesterday by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).

Likewise, 16 processes were declared void for not complying with the requirements established in Law 340-06 on Purchases and Contracting of goods, services and works.

The Good Practices Observatory is made up of five universities, representatives of different religious denominations, ASONAHORES and the General Directorate of Ethics and Governmental Integrity, a representative of the Purchase and Contracting Committee, the tourism clusters of the different destinations where the works are carried out, who participate in all the bidding and oversight processes carried out by CEIZTUR.

"Since assuming the position of Minister of Tourism, Collado has made transparency his guiding principle, requesting the participation of universities and other sectors as observers of each of the processes carried out at MITUR," says the press release from MITUR.

“For us, transparency is not just talk but a mandatory practice at the Ministry of Tourism, where in four years not a single cent of the more than six billion pesos invested by CEIZTUR has been lost,” Collado said.

The rector of Intec University, Julio Mariño, who is also the coordinator of the University Network for the Advancement of Dominican Education (RUNED), highlighted the transparency with which the Ministry of Tourism has been managed, under the administration of David Collado.

He stated that in the oversight work they carried out, they were able to verify that in each process carried out at CEIZTUR, all regulations and good practices were respected, both in the bidding process, as well as in the awards and those that were left vacant for some reasons.

In addition to Mariñez, Alliet Ortega, Franklin Holguín, David Libre, president of ASONAHORES, and Juan Bancalari, president of the Samaná Hotel Association, also spoke, all of whom agreed to commend the good practices of the Ministry of Tourism.
