SANTO DOMINGO- With retroactive effect to May 1, the Ministry of Labor announced yesterday, Wednesday, a 20% salary increase for construction sector workers, as outlined in seven resolutions approved by the National Salary Committee (CNS).
In a press release, the agency indicates that the resolutions are in the preparation phase for official publication in the coming days.
It explains that these increases will take effect retroactively from May 1st with 12%, and the remaining 8% on January 1st, 2025, effective as soon as the provisions are published.
The ministry clarified that the resolutions currently being processed establish salary adjustments for construction and related workers. They also include increases for piece-rate and contract workers such as painters, plumbers, rebar workers, bricklayers, electricians, and carpenters.
Prior to this salary increase, the Government had implemented a 24% increase for workers in this segment of the economy, applied in two installments: 21% on May 1, 2022, and an additional 3% in October of the same year.
