Meeting inaugurated with the participation of 15 airlines

SANTO DOMINGO.- Air connectivity is key for the tourism sector to continue contributing to the economic growth of the Dominican Republic.

This was stated by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, when he pointed out that the country's challenge is to achieve a greater number of air routes at competitive prices.

Collado spoke during the inauguration of the Connect New World Congress, an event being held for the first time in Latin America, based in the country, a space that will be fundamental for possible agreements to open new routes with some of the 15 airlines present at the event.

For his part, Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines, assured that the recovery of tourism in the country is such that they have increased the number of flights; it has risen in relation to the pre-pandemic.

He detailed that flights to Punta Cana increased by 40% and to Santo Domingo by 25%. He announced plans to continue increasing flight frequency and schedules.
