Line 2 of the Alcarrizos Cable Car resumes operations after corrective maintenance

SANTO DOMINGO. The Metropolitan Transportation Company (EMT) reported this Monday that operations on Line 2 of the Santo Domingo-Los Alcarrizos Cable Car have resumed, after successfully completing the corrective maintenance work that had kept the system temporarily out of service.

The service was suspended from the night of Saturday, September 5th until the early afternoon of Monday, September 7th, a period during which specialized technicians worked on correcting a condition detected in one of the primary components of the system.

Suspension as a preventive measure

The service was suspended as a preventive measure due to the condition presented in one of the primary components of the cable car.

In that same order, during the interruption, the specialized technical team made the necessary corrections to ensure the optimal functioning of the system and preserve the safety conditions required for its operation.

The transportation service has been suspended since last Saturday. (External source).

They perform tests before restoring service

The regulatory body for the Santo Domingo Metro and Los Alcarrizos Cable Car services indicated that, once the maintenance work was completed, the technical staff carried out the corresponding mechanical and operational tests before putting the line back into operation.

EMT highlighted that these assessments confirmed that the system satisfactorily met all the safety and reliability conditions required to resume service.

OMSA offered alternatives during the suspension

While this alternative transportation option remained out of service, buses from the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) were available as an alternative transportation option for users.

The Metropolitana thanked passengers for their understanding during the disruption period and reiterated its commitment to safety and continuity of service.

He also urged users to stay tuned for updates released through their official channels.
