Katmandu Park, which is being built in Punta Cana, will be a unique venture of its kind in the Caribbean

PUNTACANA, LA ALTAGRACIA.– Its approximate investment cost is 120 million dollars, it is being built on a 17,000 square meter plot of land, projected to be inaugurated in the third quarter of this year and will be the only one of its kind in the Caribbean area.

It is the Katmandu Park under construction in Punta Cana, designed to receive 4,000 people per day with hours from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., reported Simon Hirst, director of Parks, Operations and Expansion at Falcon's Beyond Global.

A report published on the Arecoa tourism website indicates that the entrance fee to access all attractions will be $120 for adults and $85 for children, poised to become the first theme park developed entirely in Punta Cana, adding significant value to the destination due to the quality of its attractions and the unique experiences that visitors will enjoy.

“This park perfectly fills a significant gap in the market. Katmandu Punta Cana will be the only theme park of its kind in the Caribbean, and it will satisfy visitors’ enormous hunger for world-class entertainment. It will be an absolutely unique experience for guests of surrounding hotels, tourists from the United States, and Punta Cana residents alike,” the executive stated.

He noted that the park, which includes not only its incredible attractions, but also world-class gastronomy, shops and entertainment, is being built in partnership between Falcon's Beyond Global and Meliá Hotels International, on 17,000 square meters with an investment of 120 million dollars.

Katmandu Park will feature restaurants offering delicious favorite dishes, unique local cuisines and tasty bistro bites, street food carts, cafes) and shops (for first-class shopping with deals from local and international vendors).

Innovativetechnology

The park will feature innovative technology developed at Falcon's X-Lab, located at Falcon's Beyond headquarters in Orlando, Florida. One of these technologies is the ON!X interactive theater, which integrates real-time content, feedback, and responsiveness, all within a 5D theater format, producing immersive and dynamic massively multiplayer video game experiences, according to the tourism publication.

Participants are equipped with haptic-enabled physical objects that are tracked in 3D to interact dimensionally with the content in real time. High-quality SFX motion seats, which harmonize directly with the real-time interactive experience and the participants' performance, provide smooth yet precise movement in multiple degrees of freedom and feature special effects of wind, light, smell, subtle audio, and visceral mechanics to engage all the senses.

Another innovative attraction debuting is Falcon's Suspended Theater, offering the world's only two-scene flying theater experience that transports guests from what appears to be a traditional theater environment to a massive, immersive curved screen. The Suspended Theater attraction system, equipped with a number of key features, is the perfect vehicle for immersive storytelling.

The unparalleled product, which exudes great power as it takes passengers on epic adventures, offers the unique sensation of flying in a completely new way. Visitors enter what appears to be a standard widescreen theater. Here, a pre-show builds anticipation.

When the main show begins, the roof dramatically detaches, and the spectators are lifted swiftly but gracefully and placed in front of a giant curved screen. This thrilling moment uses the element of surprise to draw visitors into the story.

The system-controlled movements are perfectly synchronized with the animation, immersing passengers in the narrative spectacle wherever they look. Whether flying over magnificent real-life landscapes or imaginative dreamscapes, the journey is seamless – the story, uninterrupted. Once takeoff occurs, there is only pure, uninhibited flight.

Details of the Katmandu Punta Cana, which will be located at a strategic point in the area, situated on Avenida Alemania, a short distance from the tourist resorts and only 16 km from the Punta Cana airport, were offered during the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange – DATE 2022 held by Asonahores.

During the three days of the fair, the brand's executives were able to share the details with tour operators, hoteliers, and national and international travel agents who showed interest in the great product that adds entertainment options to the preferred Caribbean destination of the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana.
