SANTO DOMINGO.- By virtue of the powers granted to it by law, the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) issued Resolution No. 46-2024 this Tuesday, March 5, suspending with immediate effect all passenger and cargo air operations to and from the Republic of Haiti, the president of the organization, José Ernesto Marte Piantini, reported today.
The official stated that the decision to suspend air transport of cargo and passengers between the two nations is effective immediately, considering Article 9 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which establishes that each contracting State reserves the right, in exceptional circumstances, during a period of emergency or in the interest of public safety, to temporarily restrict or prohibit with immediate effect flights over all or part of its territory.
In that regard, the decision set forth in the Resolution must be sent for their knowledge and corresponding purposes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Ministry of Defense, Dominican Air Force, Ministry of Tourism and General Directorate of Customs.
Similarly, the provision must also be sent to the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, National Directorate of Intelligence, Specialized Corps in Airport and Civil Aviation Security, Airport Department, Association of Airlines of the Dominican Republic, Dominican Association of Airlines, International Airports of the Dominican Republic, Intelligence Directorate of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Ministry of Defense (J2) and the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cybersecurity and Intelligence Center of the Armed Forces (C5i).
