SANTO DOMINGO- President Luis Abinader yesterday delivered 200 new apartments in the municipal district of San Luis, Santo Domingo East, as part of the Mi Vivienda project, which is being developed by the Government.
The president led the ceremony alongside the Minister of Housing and Construction, Carlos Bonilla. With these new apartments, the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Construction (Mivhed) has now delivered 1,300 units under the "My Housing San Luis Plan," representing a total investment of over RD$7.172 billion.
The project, which has created more than 5,400 direct and indirect jobs, benefits thousands of families who now own their homes, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.
Minister Bonilla Sánchez stated that “today we continue to deliver good news, but the best part is that more is to come. We will return to this place, in Santo Domingo East, to deliver more homes from the Mi Vivienda San Luis Plan.”.
This is the third delivery made by the government in San Luis, bringing the total to 60% of the 2,440 apartments that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED) plans to deliver in that municipal district. In March of this year, the agency delivered 500 homes in the project, and in July it delivered another 600.
The project development has three phases called San Luis I, San Luis II and San Luis III, in which 3 and 2 bedroom apartments have been built.
Samuel Pereyra, administrator of Banco de Reservas, indicated that “this is a work of love and social solidarity, and as such, acquiring families are offered facilities with an attractive interest rate of 8%, fixed for 6 years, much lower than the rates currently prevailing in the private market, which rise to approximately 14% for one year.”.
Asphalt, sidewalks and curbs
Also in San Luis, the head of state inaugurated the sidewalks, the curbs and the reconstruction and paving of 10 kilometers of streets, with an investment of 260 million pesos.
The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, in a brief statement, said that this Government is working to change people's lives and that this investment will have a very positive impact on the people.
He specified that in this first stage of this project, sectors such as El Bonito, San Isidro, Oriente 2 and 3, Las Piñas and Villa Felicia will benefit.
Present were the governor for the province of Santo Domingo, Julia Drullard; the mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Manuel Jiménez; the senator for the province of Santo Domingo, Antonio Taveras Guzmán; the municipal director of San Luis, Rodolfo Valera, and the director of the Higher Technical Community Institute, Pedro Antonio Quezada.
Also present were Governor Rafaela Gomera; the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; Senator Lenin Valdez; Mayor Altagracia Herrera; the Director of the Airport Department, Víctor Pichardo; the Director of the General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC), Eléxido Paula, among others.
