It's only been a week since it opened to the public, and it has already become the newest tourist attraction in the iconic city of London. And indeed, it's one of the most acclaimed destinations for tourists from all over the world.
Known for its location on the banks of the River Thames, this fantastic city boasts many advantages such as free museums, wide streets, colorful corners and extensive public transport.
While strolling around, you'll find many green parks with fine sand, slides, and hammocks for enjoying nature. Hyde Park is the city's largest park, where you can also enjoy its incredible museums, especially the British Museum, which houses an impressive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Until the opening of the new observation deck, The Shard was a favorite spot for Londoners to admire the city. This skyscraper stands 310 meters tall and was inaugurated in July 2012.
However, admission isn't free; it costs €37 per person. This price is very similar to another of the city's icons: The Eye, London's famous Ferris wheel. As a result, the new gallery has already sold out of the first 30,000 tickets available for reservation.
Horizon 22, the highest free observation deck inEurope
Europe's highest free observation deck, Horizon 22, allows everyone to enjoy the best views of London from 254 meters high. Since opening on September 27, the 58th floor of the Bishopsgate building has been able to accommodate 290 people at a time.
In fact, you have to hurry to book tickets, as the first 30,000 sold out until November, which is the next month in which there are free slots to go up to 278 meters high.
The new observation deck has a total of 62 floors and was designed by PLP Architecture. From this location, visitors can see some of London's most important landmarks: St. Paul's Cathedral , the River Thames, the Houses of Parliament, Wembley Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and Tower Bridge.
The gallery also features a café that will open in the coming weeks. Additionally, on the ground floor is Blend Café, where you can enjoy all kinds of drinks.
Schedules and location
Horizon 22 is located in London's financial district, known as the City, and has already become the tallest building in the city and in Europe. The observation deck can be accessed from the Bishopsgate entrance after passing through security. In just 41 seconds, the elevator takes visitors to the 58th floor.
As for its opening hours, it can be visited seven days a week, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays. The gallery's hours change on weekends. On Saturdays it is open until 5:00 PM, while on Sundays and holidays it closes at 4:00 PM.
