SANTO DOMINGO.– The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) announced a program to strengthen electrical infrastructure, which will take place from Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30, 2026. This program involves scheduled interventions on various 69-kilovolt (kV) lines and substations, with the aim of improving the safety and reliability of the national transmission system, preventing outages, and strengthening the operational capacity of the network.

The entity reported that several residential sectors, commercial establishments and industrial customers will have temporary interruptions of the electricity supply, necessary to guarantee the safe execution of the maintenance and adaptation work of the facilities.

Monday, October 26: Intervention on the Sabaneta–San Juan line

The schedule will begin on Monday, October 26, with work on the 69 kV Sabaneta–San Juan transmission line in the South region, where deteriorated structures will be replaced from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The intervention will cause interruptions in the electrical service in Sabaneta and, partially, in the province of San Juan, including the Sabaneta Hydroelectric Plant, according to press information.

Tuesday, October 27: Preventive maintenance and modernization of drivers

ETED announced that it has two planned interventions for Tuesday, October 27, aimed at maintaining and strengthening the electrical grid. The first will take place at the Palamara-INCA 69 kV substation line bay, where preventive maintenance work will be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

That same Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., work will be carried out on the 69 kV Zona Franca Dos Ríos–Bonao PER line. At this point, 3,000 meters of 4/0 gauge conductor will be replaced with 559 MCM conductor, as part of the modernization work aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the infrastructure.

This work will cause temporary power outages in the municipality of Bonao, the Dos Ríos Free Trade Zone, and the Aniana Vargas I and II hydroelectric plants. The disconnection is necessary to replace the conductors under the required safety conditions.

Wednesday, October 28: Simultaneous work in the East and North regions

On Wednesday, October 28, the work will extend to the East and North regions, where deteriorated structures will be replaced on two transmission lines, with the aim of strengthening the infrastructure and reducing the chances of breakdowns.

In the eastern region, work will be carried out on the 69 kV Romana–Buena Vista line, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. As a result, temporary power outages will occur in Benedicto, Buena Vista, Higüey, and Río Chavón, as well as in the Romana I Free Trade Zone.

Meanwhile, in the northern region, work will be carried out on the 69 kV Canabacoa–Playa Dorada power line from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Replacing the deteriorated structures will require a temporary power outage in Pedro García, Las Auyamas, El Piñón, El Hoyaso, La Cumbre, Los Cacaos, Tinajita, La Cumbre de Juan Veras, Lajas, Gurabito de Yaroa, El Llano, Sonador, and Playa Dorada.

The program will conclude on Friday, October 30, with the replacement of deteriorated structures on the 69 kV San Juan II–Vallejuelo transmission line, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The works will cause temporary interruptions of the electrical service in Vallejuelo, San Juan province, due to the need to intervene in the infrastructure to improve its operating conditions and contribute to the continuity of supply.

In that regard, the company explained that the announced interruptions are due to the need to carry out the work under appropriate safety conditions, seeking to strengthen the reliability of the system and reduce the risk of future breakdowns.
