The design studies are already complete, we are making progress in surveying the land and countless other elements that need to be taken into account for the construction of the airport.".
Because it has the required conditions for an international terminal, Los Tres Charcos, located in the municipality of Oviedo, will be where the Pedernales Airport will be built, which is part of the mega tourism project that is planned to be built in the southern province and that according to the current Government will generate more than 20 thousand jobs in the province.
The executive director of the Airport Department, Víctor Pichardo, reported yesterday that the project will no longer be carried out in Cabo Rojo, as planned, because this location does not have the necessary conditions regarding approach studies.
During the commemorative activities for the 64th anniversary of the province, Pichardo indicated that the Cabo Rojo domestic airport does not meet the conditions necessary for the construction of an international terminal.
He explained that to make this decision, studies were conducted in different locations, which showed that Los Tres Charcos had the necessary conditions for the airport to be built.
He said that the most important part of building an airport is the study of the winds, and in the case of the one to be built in Pedernales, work has been underway for several months, which has resulted in knowing where the airport and the runway will be built.
He said the airport will be modular and will be built according to the demand generated by the growth of hotels.

"The design studies are already complete, we are making progress in surveying the land and countless other elements that must be taken into account for the construction of the airport," Pichardo said.
He stated that other locations had previously been identified for its construction, but due to issues with the approach and the type of aircraft that would be at the airport, nothing could be finalized.
