SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Republic will take an agenda to London aimed at expanding investment, trade and cooperation opportunities with the United Kingdom during the XII edition of Dominican Week, which will take place from November 1 to 5, 2026.
The initiative, organized by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BritChamDR), together with the embassies of the Dominican Republic in the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom in Santo Domingo, will bring together authorities, businesspeople and institutional representatives from both countries.
The program seeks to project the country beyond its traditional tourist strength and highlight its potential as a destination for new productive, technological, industrial and infrastructure projects.
Tourism as a gateway to new investments
Although the initiative seeks to diversify the country's economic image, tourism will continue to play an important role.
On November 4, the Ministry of Tourism will hold a promotional event for British tour operators and travel agencies. This event will coincide with World Travel Market London, scheduled for November 3-5 at the Excel London convention center.
The coincidence will allow the Dominican Republic's tourism offerings to be presented to international buyers and operators, while promoting a vision of the country as a platform for investment, production, and international business.
Clean energy and sustainability
One of the main focuses of the agenda will be identifying opportunities to mobilize capital towards projects related to clean energy and sustainability.
In that regard, the meeting will also address the conditions offered by the Dominican Republic for the development of advanced manufacturing and nearshoring, in a context of growing interest in bringing supply chains closer to key markets.
Similarly, these sectors represent areas of interest for expanding foreign capital participation in productive activities with the potential to generate new investments and jobs.
Technology, artificial intelligence and semiconductors
Technology will occupy another important space within the conversations between Dominican and British representatives.
In this context, the agenda includes exploring opportunities for cooperation with universities in the United Kingdom in areas such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, considered strategic to strengthen the technological, educational and productive capabilities of the Dominican Republic.
The academic and business approach aims to contribute to the creation of new opportunities for collaboration and knowledge transfer between both markets.
Manufacturing and nearshoring opportunities
Dominican Week will also discuss the country's competitive advantages for attracting advanced manufacturing operations and companies interested in establishing themselves closer to their target markets.
The Dominican Republic's geographic location and its connection to international markets will be part of the conversation about new opportunities to develop export-oriented productive activities.
Agricultural exports to the British market
In that same vein, another key topic will be the growth potential of Dominican agricultural exports to the United Kingdom.
In this area, the commercial opportunities arising from the Economic Partnership Agreement between the United Kingdom and the Cariforum countries, of which the Dominican Republic is a part, will be analyzed.
The agenda seeks to identify opportunities to expand trade and facilitate a greater presence of Dominican products in the British market.
Closing with the Tobacco and Rum Night
The 12th Dominican Week will conclude on November 5th with the traditional "Tobacco and Rum Night", which will take place at the headquarters of the Dominican Embassy in London.
The meeting will serve as the closing event of an agenda that seeks to strengthen economic and institutional ties between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom and generate new spaces for investment and business.
With this edition, Dominican Week aims to consolidate a permanent relationship platform between both countries and project the Dominican Republic in the British market as a partner with opportunities in tourism, energy, technology, manufacturing and agricultural exports.
