LONDON - Interest among British citizens in visiting the Dominican Republic continues to rise, according to the UK ambassador to the country, Carol Ann van der Walt, during her participation in the XII Dominican Week in London, an event that seeks to strengthen diplomatic, commercial and business relations between the two nations.
The diplomat praised the growth of bilateral ties and considered that this type of activity contributes to expanding opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sectors of the two countries.
"I believe that Dominican Week is a wonderful week to strengthen the existing ties between the two nations," he said during an interview with Moisés González, from the program Despertar Nacional.
He also highlighted the participation of business, diplomatic and government representatives in this event, whose agenda coincides with one of the main international meetings of the tourism industry.
United Kingdom increases its interest in the Dominican Republic as a destination
Referring to the behavior of the British market, van der Walt stated that more and more citizens of his country are choosing the Dominican Republic as a destination for their holidays.
"I know that British tourists are coming to the Dominican Republic in increasing numbers every year," he said.
Among the main attractions that motivate the arrival of these visitors, he mentioned the beaches and the hospitality of the Dominicans, elements that contribute to the positioning of the country as a tourist destination in the European market.
These statements come in a context of international promotion of the Dominican Republic's offerings, which seeks to diversify its source markets and strengthen its presence among European travelers.

Dominican Week promotes investment and trade relations
In addition to its tourism component, the 12th Dominican Week in the United Kingdom, which takes place from November 1st to 5th, includes meetings aimed at promoting investment and strengthening trade between the two nations.
The activity is organized by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BritChamDR), in collaboration with the embassies of both countries.
As part of its program, on Monday, November 2, a business meeting was held, sponsored by Banco Popular Dominicano and led by its executive president, Christopher Paniagua, in which investment opportunities, economic growth and commercial cooperation were analyzed.
