The organization held educational workshops in Santiago and Santo Domingo to teach children and families about saving, planning, and responsible consumption
SANTO DOMINGO. – With the aim of promoting healthy financial habits from childhood, Asociación Cibao developed two special days of financial education for children and families, within the framework of the celebration of World Savings Day.
The activities took place at the Cibao Association Corporate Tower in Santiago, where children of employees participated, and at Plaza Colina Centro in Santo Domingo, a space that brought together clients and the general public.
As a central part of both initiatives, participants enjoyed the storytelling session "Save Now for a Better Future," presented by Ricky Ran and Luz Bautista, members of Cuentacuentos Califé.
Through this interactive experience, the youngest children were able to approach concepts such as saving, planning and responsible consumption in a dynamic and entertaining way.
This proposal is integrated into the entity's institutional financial training strategy, which covers different sectors of the population, especially children and young people, with the aim of developing skills that will allow them to make more conscious economic decisions in the future.
In this regard, Yara Hernández, Vice President of Communications and Sustainability at Asociación Cibao, highlighted the importance of introducing this knowledge from the early years of life.
“At Asociación Cibao, we believe that financial education should begin in early childhood. When children learn to manage resources, differentiate between needs and wants, and value saving, they develop skills that will stay with them throughout their lives. Our goal is for this learning to become part of everyday life in homes and schools, not just a commemorative date,” said Hernández.
Free tools for children and families
In addition to in-person activities, the institution provides parents, guardians, and teachers with various free resources to facilitate the teaching of financial knowledge to children and adolescents.
These materials include financial education booklets for children and young people, methodological guides, children's stories, and audiovisual capsules, available through their digital platforms.
Similarly, the organization promotes educational initiatives that contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities by strengthening their capacity to manage their resources effectively.
More than 8.4 million people reached through digital media
As a result of its training programs and actions, since 2021 Asociación Cibao has impacted more than 5,656 people through face-to-face activities and 8,410,822 through digital media, strengthening their knowledge about the responsible management of personal finances.
Likewise, the institution participates each year in the Economic and Financial Week, organized by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, one of the main national spaces intended to promote economic and financial education among students.
Children's savings account to encourage good habits
As a complement to its educational programs, Asociación Cibao also offers a children's savings account, designed to encourage this practice from an early age and promote a culture based on planning and responsible use of money.
With these initiatives, the organization reaffirms its commitment to accessible and inclusive financial education, while also focusing on training new generations with greater knowledge and tools to make responsible economic decisions.
In this way, it seeks to contribute to preparing families who are more aware of the importance of saving and have better opportunities for their future.
