Tourism Minister David Collado received an award yesterday in Philadelphia, declaring the Dominican Republic the Best Caribbean Island as a tourist destination.
The prestigious award was given at the Leisure Lifestyle Awards by the readers of Global Traveler.
Minister Collado expressed his gratitude for the award, which has been given to the Dominican Republic for the past three years.
“This new award belongs to all the people who welcome tourists every day with their smiles and unique kindness, my people of the Dominican Republic,” Collado stated.
This Leisure Lifestyle Awards award adds to the string of recognition the country has received for its tourism success story over the past three years.
Among these recognitions, the one from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) stands out, which declared the Dominican Republic as the first country in the world to achieve total recovery after the pandemic.
