Tourism Minister David Collado met with his Canadian counterpart, Soraya Martinez, with whom he discussed concrete plans to strengthen tourism relations between the Dominican Republic and Canada, and to ensure that more visitors from that nation continue to arrive on this Caribbean island.
Collado described his meeting with the Canadian tourism minister as "transcendent," considering that Canada is the second largest source of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
"This meeting is truly a great step forward in ensuring greater connectivity between Canada and the Dominican Republic, which will result in a substantial increase in the arrival of Canadians to Quisqueya, and bring us closer to the projection of reaching 10 million tourists by the end of the year.".
The meeting between the two tourism ministers addressed bilateral issues to strengthen relations and boost tourism between the two nations, the second most important source of visitors for the Caribbean country.
Minister Collado's agenda in Toronto included meetings with Sunwing Travel Group, Air Canada Vacations, and other travel agents and tour operators.
This meeting took place during a 4-day visit by Minister Collado to Canada, where the official held his traditional Road Shows in the cities of Toronto and Montreal, attended by more than 200 tour operators, travel agents and airline executives.
