SANTO DOMINGO. – Disney Cruise Line will add the Dominican Republic to its itineraries starting in November, a decision that expands the country's presence on Caribbean routes and strengthens activity in its tourist ports.
According to information from the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (MITUR), the company's ships will make a stop in Taíno Bay, in Puerto Plata, one of the main cruise ship reception points in the northern region.
The announcement came during the country's official participation in Seatrade Cruise Global, one of the leading international trade fairs in the sector, held in Miami, where authorities and tourism stakeholders held meetings with various cruise lines.
Tourism Minister David Collado noted that the arrival of this shipping company reflects the country's growing position in the cruise segment, especially due to the type of visitor this type of offering attracts.
According to MITUR, Disney's inclusion adds to other companies that have integrated Dominican ports into their routes, in a context where the country seeks to consolidate itself as a strategic point within the Caribbean.
During the fair, the Dominican delegation included more than a dozen co-exhibitors, among them ports, tour operators, and companies linked to the sector. In addition to business meetings, cultural presentations were held to showcase the local offerings to potential industry partners.
The addition of new ports of call, in line with the ministry, comes amid sustained growth in cruise tourism in the country, which has diversified its offerings beyond traditional sun and beach destinations.
