SANTO DOMINGO.- A group of 15 Colombian companies will visit Santo Domingo to present a diverse range of construction materials to Dominican business owners in the construction sector, hardware store owners, architects, and designers, as part of the second in-person ShowRoom organized by ProColombia.
The meeting will take place at the Colombian Embassy in the Dominican Republic and aims to present Colombia's offerings and generate business opportunities for the construction and design industry between the two countries.
Companies with the highest quality standards will be on the island to present their products and share their expertise in the sector. “The Dominican Republic is a very important ally and partner with whom we have been generating opportunities and business for years,” announced Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.
During the tour of Colombian businesspeople, field visits will be made to companies and distributors, as well as to Dominican associations and guilds.
“The trade show will showcase the most in-demand products in the sector, including: steel, aluminum, solutions for home spaces, bathrooms, kitchens, roofing tiles, locks, paints, metal panels, ceramics, glass, waterproofing, doors, windows, pipes, furniture, among others,” Santoro said.
Geographical proximity, direct air and sea routes, and language ease are, among others, great competitive advantages when doing business between Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
“This is a great opportunity to generate good business, considering that the construction sector is one of the main drivers of the economy, employment and development, as well as inviting entrepreneurs from the Dominican Republic to ExpoCamacol, the major construction fair that will take place between August 24 and 27 in Medellín,” highlighted Enrique Stellabatti, director of ProColombia for the Caribbean.
During the first ShowRoom held in October 2021, Colombian companies showcased the best of their product offerings in construction materials, and business expectations were reached with Dominican entrepreneurs for more than US$3.4 million.
Colombia exported US$17.5 million to the country in 2019, US$15 million in 2020, and in 2021 exports registered sales of US$24.4 million, representing an increase of 62% compared to the same period in 2020.
