COE places four provinces and the National District on green alert due to trough

Temperatures will range between 23°C and 25°C, while the highs will be between 33°C and 35°C

SANTO DOMINGO. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed four provinces and the National District on green alert, due to the approach of a trough, abundant humidity and local effects that will favor an increase in cloud cover.

The localities under alert are San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, Santo Domingo and the National District.

According to the agency, these conditions will cause showers that could intensify into locally moderate downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusts of wind, mainly during the afternoon and early evening.

COE Recommendations

Given this situation, the COE recommended that citizens refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines with high volumes of water, as well as avoid using resorts located in the provinces under alert.

The agency urged the public to stay tuned to official bulletins and follow the guidance of the authorities in the event of possible changes in weather conditions.

Indomet warns about high temperatures

Likewise, given the persistence of high temperatures and an overwhelming feeling of heat, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) recommended drinking water frequently, wearing light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, and avoiding direct sun exposure without proper protection between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

He also advised staying in cool, well-ventilated places and paying special attention to the elderly, pregnant women, and children.

Forecast for Santo Domingo

For the National District, scattered clouds and sunshine are expected during the early hours of the day, with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, accompanied by moderate downpours and isolated thunderstorms.

Similar conditions are forecast for Santo Domingo Norte, with scattered clouds and periods of sunshine, followed by increased cloudiness, moderate downpours, and isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon.

For Santo Domingo Oeste, sun and scattered clouds are also expected in the morning, while in the afternoon moderate downpours and isolated thunderstorms could occur.

In Santo Domingo East, the outlook will be partly cloudy with sunshine, with increasing cloudiness during the afternoon and possible moderate downpours and isolated thunderstorms.

Temperatures will range between 23°C and 25°C, while the highs will be between 33°C and 35°C.
