SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA) announced that it will hold elections tomorrow, Thursday, July 20, to choose the new members of its professional groups.
Cristian Rojas, president of the organization, explained that the scrutiny is an event that precedes the presidential elections to be held next August, given that the authorities change command every year.
At tomorrow's event, five members will be selected from each of the seven professional groups that the organization has: Civil Engineers, the group of architects, surveyors, agronomists, chemical engineers, topographic engineers, and the group of electromechanical engineers.
“On Thursday the 20th (tomorrow) we have general and national elections in all regional delegations and local branches. We have set up 43 polling stations. We have representation in all 32 provinces, but voting will not take place in all of them,” Rojas explained.
He said that CODIA has a membership of over 46,000 registered members, most of whom are eligible to vote. Voting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at all of the organization's offices.
The elections to choose the new president of the entity will take place on August 4th of this year, while the inauguration of the person who is elected will take place on the 14th of the aforementioned month.
