SANTO DOMINGO.- After undergoing a rigorous audit process carried out from November 18 to 24 of this year, the auditing firm Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) certified the integrated quality management system of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), under ISO 37001, a standard focused exclusively on the prevention of bribery, as reported by José Ernesto Marte Piantini, president of the organization.
The official stated that, from this date forward, the current administration is making a significant impact on the overall policy of civil aviation by continuing to strengthen the Integrated Management System (IMS) of the agency responsible for setting the overall policy of civil aviation in the country.
“ISO 37001:2016 is the first international standard for management systems that allows the implementation of measures aimed at preventing, detecting and addressing bribery,” Marte Piantini told area managers, process owners, alternates and members of the JAC Integrity Committee.
He stated, as the audit results were being released, that the initiative to certify the Civil Aviation Board's integrated quality management system for anti-bribery is aligned with the vision of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader. "Ethics and transparency are aspects that have characterized the current administration," he emphasized at the beginning of the presentation.
He explained that to achieve the most recent certification, the controls applied in all processes and the due diligence carried out by each of the different areas were evaluated, among other aspects framed within the various financial and non-financial control processes in the institution.
“This certification adds value to the services we offer from the JAC to the various national and foreign airlines, consignees and users of air transport,” he said.
He emphasized that achieving certification of all JAC anti-bribery processes and services represents an institutional milestone by enabling the creation of the necessary controls to prevent bribery in all administrative and mission processes.
“The Civil Aviation Board, as an organization that contributes to the economic sectors that drive the country's development, reaffirms its commitment to ethical management, in accordance with the guidelines of President Luis Abinader and Decree 36-21,” he added.
During the audit, Rodrigo Ugarte, lead auditor of SGS Panama, inspected and verified all processes, checking the levels of compliance in the controls operated by the different areas, under the institutional code of ethics, the compliance policy, as well as the specific rules and procedures for the prevention of bribery.
Marte Piantini reminded those in charge of each area, process owners, alternates and members of the Integrity Committee that this new certification reaffirms everyone's commitment to transparency, access to information, ethics and accountability.
The external audit was carried out by SGS Panama, the company specializing in the civil aviation sector, a world leader in certification, inspection, auditing and verification services for civil aviation and air transport.
