Cibao Association reiterates deadlines for participating in competitive funds

SANTO DOMINGO.-The Cibao Savings and Loan Association (ACAP) reiterated the call to participate in the seventh edition of the "José Santiago Reinoso Lora Competitive Funds for Sustainable Development" 2023-2024.

In a statement sent to the media, the Communications and Sustainability Manager, Yara Hernández, reminded Non-Profit Associations (ASFL) interested in submitting their proposals that the virtual platform will be available to receive documents until February 28th of this year.

"As every year, we encourage non-profit organizations to participate in this initiative, which allows us to support communities by offering funding opportunities that benefit the development of Dominicans," Hernández emphasized.

The financial institution also noted that through the last six rounds of the Competitive Funds program—a central component of its social investment strategy—it has provided non-profit organizations with a total of RD$51,000,000 for the implementation of 45 winning projects that are positively impacting their communities. For this seventh round, it has allocated RD$12,000,000.

This year the call for applications for the Competitive Funds focuses on three main categories: Social Development, for projects that seek to improve the quality of life of communities through programs that respond to collective needs, supporting social development and the establishment of alliances to achieve the purposes, within the subcategories of education, culture, housing, health, inclusion, food and technology.

Similarly, Environmental Development, for promoters of environmental care and to educate the population on topics related to the preservation, conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, within the subcategories of reforestation and conservation of flora, water, waste classification, renewable energies, environmental education, conservation of fauna and technology.

And  Economic Development, for initiatives related to education for development, employability and entrepreneurship, in order to promote the improvement of the population's capabilities, within the subcategories of social entrepreneurship, employability, financial education and technology.

All non-profit organizations that have been incorporated for at least one year and comply with the regulations established by Law 122-05 for the Regulation and Promotion of Non-Profit Associations in the Dominican Republic may apply.

The winning projects will be announced by Asociación Cibao in April 2024. The guidelines are already available on the Asociación Cibao website in the Sustainability section, and the online application platform has been available since January 2, 2024, at https://acapsostenible.com.do/.
