The Banco de Reservas reported that approximately 1,800 properties, valued at over RD$8.5 billion, were the number of applications received from the Dominican diaspora interested in acquiring property in the country during the first Real Estate Fair held by the bank this past weekend in New York and Lawrence.
In offering the information, the general manager, Samuel Pereyra, described these results as a great event that strengthens the bond with Dominicans residing abroad.
“This fair,” he said, “has been a great success that contributes to the development of the construction sector and the economy in general in the Dominican Republic, but it has also fulfilled a long-held dream of Dominicans living abroad to acquire their own home in their native country.”.
He explained that by the close of the fair, more than RD$7 billion in loans had been disbursed and applications channeled to project developers and for the financing of completed and under-construction housing, which benefits the real estate sector in general.
About 4,000 people attended both venues where this first international Real Estate Fair was held, of which 3,000 went to New York, where it took place on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th; and the rest to Lawrence, which took place over two days (Saturday and Sunday).
This fair featured renowned real estate agents, including Inmobiliaria Banreservas, Plusval and Tu casa RD, as well as the main construction companies that are clients of the financial institution.
A broad agenda was also developed related to topics such as home purchase management, financing, personal finance and other aspects to consider when making the decision to acquire real estate, for which the public had the assistance of business officers who offered advice and financial guidance.
In both Washington Heights, New York; and Lawrence, Massachusetts, over the weekend, those interested in financing a home in the Dominican Republic traveled to the venues where the event was held, despite the cold.
In New York, business leaders and the public gathered on the 12th floor of the Radio Hotel, where the convention was held. Meanwhile, in Lawrence, despite a snowy and rainy weekend, the trade show drew a large crowd to the Lawrence Family Development Charter School.
