Banco de Reservas announced at the International French Travel Market (IFTM) -Top Resa 2023-, which is being held in Spain, that its active portfolio for the tourism sector exceeded RD$40 billion.
Ysidro García, Deputy Business Administrator of Banreservas, stated in that city that Dominican banking has made a firm and sustained contribution to the advancement of tourism and the promotion of the Dominican Republic as a tourist and investment destination.
He emphasized that the Banco de Reservas' purpose at this fair is to evaluate and establish alliances with entrepreneurs in the sector, in order to invest resources destined for different areas of the country.
“As proof of the positive impact of our Bank in supporting this area of the economy, I must tell you that as of the end of August 2023 our active portfolio for the sector rose to more than RD$40 billion,” he said.
García added that, in addition, this year Banreservas is supporting other projects for an amount of US$255.2 million, which will be generating more than 4,000 direct and 6,000 indirect jobs, and projects tourism financing for an amount exceeding US$700 million, which is equivalent to an investment of US$1,428.76 million, in more than 11 hotels, two themed activities, two cruise ports and in working capital.
Executives from the financial institution met with hotel owners, executives and investors from the sector, who attended this fair, considered one of the most important in the tourism area.
Representatives from the Tourism Development Department of Banreservas presented in this space the portfolio of financial services that the Bank offers to attract foreign investment.
