SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano will strengthen its leading role in financing and supporting the national tourism industry with an active participation in the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which will take place at the Ifema fairgrounds in Madrid, Spain, from January 24 to 28.
The delegation of executives from Banco Popular will complete a full agenda of business and institutional meetings, exceeding 30 encounters, in which new tourism developments will be evaluated, financial advice will be offered to corporate clients in the sector, the destination will be promoted among potential investors interested in the country, and institutional agreements will be announced to continue supporting the Dominican tourism industry, according to a press release from the bank.
Since the beginning of tourism in the country, more than three decades ago, Banco Popular has always positioned itself as the main historical financier of this industry in the Dominican Republic, having the first team of bankers specializing in the most suitable financial solutions to meet the specific needs of hotel and tourism clients.
Leader in tourism financing
Year after year, Banco Popular maintains constant support for the country by promoting foreign direct investment in tourism and the corresponding contribution of foreign currency, having also supported the creation of more than 33,000 direct jobs and facilitating the development of more than 26,500 hotel rooms.
The financial organization has a loan portfolio that, as of the end of December 2023, amounts to US$1.35 billion, including the contribution of Popular Bank, a subsidiary of Grupo Popular with an international license.
