As of December 2022, the Government has registered 1,831 infrastructure projects with an estimated investment of RD$853 billion

SANTO DOMINGO- As of December 2022, the government had registered a total of 1,831 infrastructure projects that contemplate an estimated investment of 853,320.4 million pesos, of which 1,122 were registered with normal execution, 212 were completed and 497 were held up. 

According to the accountability report of the Ministry of the Presidency, published by Diario Libre, of that last amount of works, 477 correspond to school facilities impacted by legal processes of land and budget restructurings.

According to the report, infrastructure projects are one of the pillars of the government program due to their impact on the economic, population, and housing growth sectors.

The 1,831 projects being promoted by the government are distributed across 25 institutions, according to the newspaper article, written by journalist Yamalie Rosario.

The Ministry of the Presidency highlights that by 2022, 725 new works had been incorporated, reflecting an increase of 41.78 percent in the total infrastructure.

Greater Santo Domingo, the National District, San Cristóbal and Santiago top the list of districts with the largest amounts of construction projects.

The document details that school facilities have a greater representative impact on this program because it includes 618 schools and 28 registered Childcare Centers, of which 131 were a priority to complete by February of this year.

Completed

The current government headed by Luis Abinader completed a total of  212 projects  between August 2020 and 2022, representing an investment of 59,239.3 million pesos.

Of the 212 projects completed between August 2020 and 2022, 120 were completed in the latter year. The projects undertaken during the current administration have indirectly impacted more than one million people, according to institutional reports presented by the Ministry of the Presidency. These infrastructure projects include 62 People's Pharmacies across the country, along with Primary Care Units (UNAP), representing an investment of over 91.299 billion pesos. The report states that these pharmacies directly benefit approximately 700,000 residents.
