SANTO DOMINGO.-Arajet announced today that interested Dominicans can now purchase round-trip tickets with taxes included to Bogotá and Medellín starting at $69 per leg. These routes join those already operated by the company to Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Cali, which began operations last September.
The airline, founded on a low-price philosophy, aims to connect Santo Domingo with Colombia's main cities and their diverse tourist and commercial experiences, and to boost the country's economic growth and development by promoting tourism in cities with significant traveler demand.
According to a press release, Arajet founder and CEO VíctorPacheco stated, “Colombia is undoubtedly a destination of great interest to Arajet due to the demand from travelers to and from the Dominican Republic. Therefore, we have consolidated our largest operation to date in this country, serving five destinations, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening a mutually beneficial economic, cultural, and social relationship for both nations.”
“We want Colombians to find in us an affordable travel alternative that meets their travel expectations at the lowest cost, with world-class service and the newest and most efficient aircraft on the market,” Pacheco emphasized.
“We are happy to have two new routes to the Dominican Republic from Colombia. Our diaspora will greatly benefit from the connectivity offered in Bogotá and Medellín, but Colombians who want to visit one of the best tourist destinations in the Caribbean will also have the opportunity to do so with direct flights to strengthen the economic, cultural and tourism ties between our countries,” said Efraín Guerra, head of mission of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Colombia.
In December
The first flight from Santo Domingo to Bogotá will be on December 5, while the flight to Medellín will take place on December 6. With the opening of these two destinations, Arajet expands and consolidates its presence in Colombia and aims to advance its expansion strategy in the continent, with which it hopes to transport seven million passengers over a five-year period.
Carlos Mesa, vice president of customer experience at Arajet, explained that there will be three fare levels.
