SANTO DOMINGO.- Arajet reported yesterday that it climbed to the select list of the 12 leading international airlines in passenger traffic, according to the aviation report published by the Civil Aviation Board, which outlines the transportation figures in the Dominican Republic during January, February and March of 2023.
A statement from the airline indicates that the report showed Arajet transported more than 80,000 passengers in the first quarter of the year, positioning itself as the number one Dominican airline in that regard. It is followed by SkyHigh, with more than 20,000 passengers, and Air Century with almost 12,000.
"We are now part of a select list of leading airlines transporting passengers to and from the Dominican Republic, which reflects the preference and trust that Dominicans and foreigners have placed in Arajet, and the commitment and dedication of our team," declared Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO and founder of Arajet.
He explained that they will continue to strengthen their offerings and service, providing new routes to South America, the United States, and Canada, which will allow them to close the year with more than 300,000 passengers transported and thus enter the top 10 airlines that transport the most passengers in the Dominican Republic.
Arajet operates flights to 17 destinations in 11 countries in North, Central, South America and the Caribbean, and since entering the market on September 15, 2022, has carried nearly 180,000 passengers across its route network.
“These coming months are crucial for the development of our operation, and we have the support of some of the world’s leading aviation experts backing our accelerated growth,” Pacheco said.
To celebrate, Arajet is launching a promotion from today until Sunday, April 23, offering tickets for $9.90 each way to each of its 17 destinations (excluding taxes, fees and airport charges), available for travel from May 10 to March 3, 2024, subject to conditions.
Arajet expects to increase its fleet from 5 to 10 new Boeing 737MAX8 aircraft in the coming months, as well as opening new routes, which will enable more tourists to enter the Dominican Republic.
Furthermore, starting April 20, Arajet will allow the use of Visa and Mastercard credit cards for onboard purchases on all its flights. Dominican pesos and US dollars in cash will continue to be accepted without restrictions.
