Arajet inaugurates route between Santo Domingo and Buenos Aires

SANTO DOMINGO- Arajet inaugurated its 22nd destination yesterday in 16 countries of the continent, connecting for the first time directly the Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza) in Buenos Aires with the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.

A press release from the airline indicates that the direct flight of less than 8 hours is available 3 times a week, departing from Buenos Aires on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 04:25 am and from Santo Domingo to Buenos Aires departing at 05:55 pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

"In addition, it will be able to connect with Montreal and Toronto in Canada; Mexico City and Cancun in Mexico; Guatemala City in Guatemala; San Jose in Costa Rica; San Salvador in El Salvador and several Caribbean destinations, making Santo Domingo the new hub of the Continent," Arajet highlights.

Carlos Mesa, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Arajet, highlighted the importance of Argentina to the Dominican Republic, noting that it is among the top five countries of origin for tourists. “Now Argentinians will be better connected to the Caribbean than ever before. For the first time, we will have a direct flight between our two capital cities, demonstrating that Arajet has kept its promise to democratize air travel in the region, uniting the entire continent at the best prices and with the highest quality and best experience on board,” the executive stated.

For his part, Sebastián Villar Guarino, General Manager of Ezeiza Airport, explained that air traffic has been consolidating month by month at all airports in the country. "So much so that October was the first month after the pandemic in which we surpassed the passenger traffic figures of 2019. Several airlines have confirmed increases in domestic and international flights starting in November and December, which is excellent news. In this context, we are delighted to welcome Arajet to our airport, thus reaching 30 airlines operating at Ezeiza International Airport and improving connectivity for Argentina," he noted.

Gustavo Hernando, the Dominican Republic's ambassador to Argentina, thanked the airline and its representatives for responding to the Dominican government's request to promote tourism and regional connectivity, and the Argentine authorities for approving and welcoming this new route, "which will continue to expand and strengthen the bonds of friendship between both nations for the benefit of tourism and trade between their citizens.".

"Argentinians flying with Arajet to Santo Domingo will enjoy the beauty and historical significance of its Colonial Zone, the 'First City of the Americas' and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its warm people, and its beautiful tropical beaches just 20 minutes from the airport, such as Boca Chica, Guayacanes, and Juan Dolio, as well as Bayahibe, only 45 minutes away. Arajet also offers a complimentary service from the airport to Punta Cana, a journey of less than two hours," explains the Dominican airline.

The routes

Arajet began operations in March of last year 2022, accumulating in just one year an extensive route network of 22 destinations in 16 countries and more than 150 connections in North, Central and South America, managing to interconnect the entire continent at the lowest cost and operational safety.

The airline expects to fly more than 7 million passengers in the next 5 years and consolidate a robust air connection hub in Santo Domingo, with flights and fares that benefit travelers in the region
